Ensembles
Curricular Choir
The choir program at EPCHS is designed to enhance the musical, creative, and expressive qualities of all students. In addition to learning proper vocal production/technique, students will also learn music reading skills, sight-singing skills, and performance skills. Students also will have opportunities to develop team-building and leadership skills. This is a performance-based class. Students will be expected to participate in three concerts outside of regular class a year. Students will also have the opportunity to audition and participate in events such as Solo/Small Group Ensemble, State Choir, and ILMEA.
Enriched Choir
(Weighted 5.0) Students are eligible to select chorus for enriched credit and will be treated as an independent study with the chorus director's approval. Must be enrolled in chorus and in good standing. Students taking enriched choir will be expected to participate in two extra events and complete a choir service project per semester. Possible options include: participating in Chorale/Caroling, auditioning for ILMEA, competing at competition, and singing at graduation.
Chorale
A 16-voice mixed extracurricular choir made up of 9th - 12th graders. Membership is gained through a rigorous audition process held in the Spring and students attend a week-long camp in the summer to help prepare. Chorale learns and performs more contemporary and vocal jazz literature of the highest caliber. Chorale performs numerous times throughout the school year at school concerts and venues throughout the community. In the past the group has performed for events such as the school games singing the national anthem, Firefighters Memorial, Chorale Christmas, Shop and Stroll, a joint Mid-Illini concert with other schools in the area, graduation and has traveled to places such as Chicago, Florida, and New York.
